GCSE (AQA) listening resources AOS 4 - Aaron Copland

by Tim Burnage @HuntSchoolMusic

Copland is one of the most respected American classical composers of the twentieth century. His music often feels familiar in its use of folk melodies and modality, but it is also modern and other worldly at times, in its use of whole tonality and dissonance. Copland's music can be colourful and brash, but also deeply reflective and still, in its evocation of the wide open spaces of the American landscape.
